How the age calculation works

The calculator subtracts your birth date from the target date. It counts completed years first, then months, then days, borrowing from the previous month and year when the current day or month is smaller than your birth day or month. Because it uses the real length of each month, leap years and month-end dates such as 29 February are handled correctly.

How age is broken down A flow from two dates into completed years, then months, then days. Two dates start → end Years Months Days Completed years counted first, then months, then days.
The gap between two dates is split into years, months, and days.

Frequently asked questions

How is exact age calculated?

Exact age is the difference between your birth date and the target date in completed years, months, and days. Borrowing handles cases where the current day or month is smaller than the birth values.

Does this calculator handle leap years correctly?

Yes. It uses the actual number of days in each month, including 29 days in February during leap years.

What is the total days lived figure?

It is the whole number of days between your birth date and the target date, counting every calendar day including leap days.

Can I calculate age on a future or past date?

Yes. The target date defaults to today, but you can change it to any date to find an age in the past or future.

Is my birth date stored anywhere?

No. All calculations run entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded or saved on a server.
